this song is about the events that took place in new york on september 11, 2001. i watched it all from about a quarter mile away, including watching the first plane flying low over the village, on it's way to the north tower.

a week before it happened i was standing on the observation deck of the souther tower, freezing cold, viewing amazing manhattan with someone who meant a lot to me. she left a few days later, then the eleventh happened.

it took me three months to finally write this song.

they toppled us over.
i need you to just slide in close to me, and it'll be all right.
it wasn't snow, it was ashes.
and they washed into our hudson.
come back. be here. i'll be with you, it'll be all right

it's true that i wanted to leave.
but i need to breath-in the smoke, i'm not leaving.
i guess summer's really over.
the papers all fell just like oak leaves.
come back. be here. roll onto me, it'll be all right, darling.
